Historian, American Brewing History Initiative
Theresa McCulla is the historian of the American Brewing History Initiative at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History. Previously, she worked as an Arcadia Fellow at Harvard University Library, directed the Food Literacy Project for Harvard University Dining Services, and worked as a European media analyst for the Central Intelligence Agency. While earning a Ph.D. in American Studies from Harvard University (2017), McCulla conducted archival research and oral history interviews. Her scholarship explores the history of 19th- and 20th-century American food and drink, especially as they intersect with race and ethnicity.
